well most of adelaide is 50, main roads are 60 and if you get out of metro areas its 80 then out to go interstate its 100! we only have one freeway in adelaide which runs out about 100 out of town! then its another 1400km to sydney.

by the way, thats Kilometers per hour!

and thats why i dont see brakes as a priority.

by the way its South Australia is the dryest state in the dryest country in the world. its a lot bigger than texas and with a lot less people too. theres only 1 million people here, plenty or room on the roads :)

Sorry mate, but if you really have trouble with the drums id say you need to revise your driving habits. they were alright in 1964 and they're fine now. You cant drive it like a late model car, you drive it like a 1964 falcon with 4 wheel drum brakes! This car will never see a racetrack and never be driven hard through the hills!

I agree discs would be better, but doing this on a budget means they're not a priority. the XM was $700, the XP parts car was $500 and my 200ci motor and C4 cost $250. the brakes on my XM have just had $1100 spent on them with new drums, linings, slave pistons, master cylinders etc etc by the previous owner. seems like a waste to throw it all away and spend more money on something to give it 10-20% braking. Id rather spend money installing seatbelts! Its never had them fitted.

I'd have to agree with you Barry. My first car was an '72 XA 250 (a fair bit heavier than the XM) with front drums and I didn't have any problem stopping. The worst thing was probably overheating in summer, but you just learn to manage it.

Disks would be better, but as long as you can get it registered, why make it a priority? I guess it depends how you drive.

Hey, just saw that ZC earlier in the post. Nice! :)

My old man has a white ZC with 302W that's been sitting in his shed for the last ten years. The body and trim are good, just needs the engine rebuilt. One of these days I might be able to convince him it would look better on the road with his son behind the wheel, than sitting on blocks in his shed.

Not for lack of trying... :?

I'll just stick a quick two thumbs up for the ZC too. Brown - gotta love the 70's
