Not bad hey..

Hey my new bump stick came today
Its specs are

Advertised Duration: 290in / 294ex

Duration@.050" Cam Lift: 241in / 243ex

Lift At Cam: 302in / 302ex

Cam Lift@ TDC: 085

Intake Centre Line: 108 deg at TDC

Lobe Separation angle: 112 deg

what would the lift at the valve be?

In theory, with everything to spec, 522 gross at the intake, and 522 at the exhast. There is a built-in lash for hydraulic cams, so its more likely to be about 516 thou. It's gonna need Phase3 style valve gear, adjustable with posilock 7/16 studs and some GTHO style collets and retainers. Springs need to avoid binding, and provide just enough nose tension to stop valve float. Phase 3 gear will be too strong. A single spring should do the trick. Cam maker makes his suggestions on this.

The stock sled fulcrum (rocker ball) chops out like crazy, so get a better quality one.

If you are just using the iron head, you may be able to get away without better studs mountings, but not on an alloy head. There doesn't look like there is enough thread engagement to stop the bolt pulling out past 5000 rpm on even a part time basis!

    Cheers xtaxi
Your Knowingness truly blows me away!!!
The cam is a solid profile
i was asking about valae lift because I wasnt sure if it was the right cam. I asked for about 520#
the head has double springs, chomolly retainers, stainless valves and im getting a set of bolt on adjustable roller rockers from Y/T

Im in a posting mood and have some pics to share with all you good peeps

OH God thats ugly

(A late model Holley Avenger, with a more sensitive booster venturi, adjustable secondary spring, and lots of nice bling bling).

I loooooovvvvveeee the engine, Gassed, it is perfect. You've made it!

I'm looking at doing my engines Gulf Red, a Renault colour, just to be contrary.

I have picked up a really dirty version of the same engine, ready for my XC Falcon. It's blue.

Was your engine Ford blue, like all 1971 to 1980 engines?

I've also got

1966 200 Log ( Blue head from a 170, standard Orange block)
1983 250 x-flo with 1977 Cast iron head (Blue head, black block)
1983 250 x-flo with Alloy head, Oz 221 crank, 6.27" rods, 305 Chev pistons a 200 from an XR. (natural alloy, Black)

Cheers xtaxi and to all the guys for the good feed back
Its comments like these that make this hard work worth it

Yes my engine was the old ford blue, The new color is KIA greenish yellow with extra yellow pearl

I didnt pick the holley for the bling bling factor but for the reason its almost the correct size for what I need
Most people go for a 600 or 650 but realy there just too big and over carbing is not good

Its nearly ready to go just need a 10mm alloy spacer plate to fit between the head and rocker cover so my rockers dont hit
I should have the plate finished by wed latest and will post some pics

Looks like you have a few good toys there xtaxi!

Yea, Your engine really really looks good. I'm jealous. Also, on the pic above, I like the way they advanced the cam :)
Which brings me to a question. Can you advance the cam on one of these sixes with the timing gears or are the cams set up to run right with 0 advance? What's the hot set up?
Dave
