my head

so have my carb removed, measured the carb bore and its 38mm or 1.5”, not what i was expecting, so my head is a ???? its a 69 head, the log is a flat log not a hex but bugger me what it came off.

The bigger hole 1.6875 to 1.75" was with the 200/250 tall deck. The 188/221 medium deck engines were still 1.5". You can easily take it out to 2" or 2.047" like Danielson did

Its a medium deck 188/221 head, same as the US C9 head, but with a larger 60 cc chamber. It should be an orange or red color, same color as the 200 block. The blue rocker was supposed to be the small version of the 200 in the XY or XA, then the 250 was blue. Not sure on the 188/221, but probably Power By Ford blue on both 188 and 221 rockers. The stock XP was gold, with a gold head, and then the XR got a wide deck orangey red block with a gold head and blue FORD rocker cover

Danielson's XW head was like it.

Hi My oil light is coming when braking, XW with 221 motor should I be concerned ?

I have also atattched some pics of my LPG adaptor to convert a Impco 300A to a weber throttle body onto a log head. First an adaptor was made to fit a weber carb which I ran for a while. The studs were removed for the lpg conversion. 2 weber throttle bodies were used and the top one was gutted and filled all holes with devcon and was then then matched to the custom LPG adaptor. The black silicon is to seal over the top of 4 couterunk 8mm bolts that holt it all together. The bolt heads are directly under the sealing surface of the convertor. It works great. Hope this helps anyone wanting to do it this way.
Cheers Dan

I have finally gotten around to fitting the ADM34 Weber to my 221. Initially the bottom end power seemed down on the stromberg but after getting the powervalve working properly and swapping the aircorrection jets, (I now have 160 on primary and 180 on secondary, mains are 135 and 220 idle is 60 and 70 on secondary) it seems somewhat better but not as much as i hoped for. The idle still seems a little rich and I think some further tuning will help. Are jets available for the primary low speed circuit ? It uses a two stage idle jet but I have bipassed the second stage.
I am also yet to fit the return line or Fuel regulator although it seems to run fine without such.
Whats Best here ? :?
Heres some links to pics of the inlet before and after, the hole was 40mm now is 50mm.. and the adaptor. In hindsight I should have made the adaptor plate thicker as it would have given me smoother flow..
The problem now is i wnat more power still, Bigger cam maybe as well as more carbs.. :D

thanks mate for the info, i am at the dreaded crossroads, the rear main seal leak is getting a little worse, time does not heal them and the head has a slight weep, i am getting some spares as we speak and make a plan, measure twice cut once plan. Stay tuned

the ford engines (head and block0 from XR on are ford Blue .

the rocker covers and aircleaner are gold for XR 200 .
the rocker cover for a 221 is silver . the aircleaner is a small dia ,light blue with with a '3.6'
the 250's are red/orange rocker cover with a large dia , thin, lightish blue air cleaner
the late 200's are a light blue rocker cover with large dia thin , blue aircleaner

mine has the original XR 200 gold rocker cover, in good condition, its only the head that has been changed, u suppose what i was hoping for for now was having a larger volume log head as a nice coincidence, that may determine what i do with the head, another thing would be the CC volume and the head gasket and how that has affected comp ratio of my aussie 9.2

Sure could, but each statement is true of what I found.

It's especially a problem if someone puts a blue rocker cover on my Orange XR Falcon engine block. Why doesn't it have a blue block, gold rocker cover?
Or the blue rocker cover on my early 200 XA engine. Why isn't it red?

They haven't been changed, these are the rockers my factory NZ produced XR and XA 200 cube sixes came out with.

And ARC9DE 6049 B is certainly an early 188/221 casting number, before the 72DA 6049 log head change over with the XA.

I picked up a 250 log head today, she is sitting on the bench until Friday morning then going to a mate at the Winternationals drags, he will take it home and cut the log off and machine it up.

My ARC9 6049-B head is 1.5", not 1.75" and its a C9 head with bigger 62 cc chambers, and is the same as the 250 2v head in all other respects. Its blue, and came with a blue rocker cover on a 1972 XY or XA Falcon.
