how do i find out if my car was made before or after april ove 66 need to know to get moter mounts thay make 2 differnt kinds

On the door tag is a build date. A=Jan, B=Feb, etc. The number is the day.

1966 model car production started in September 65 and fan thru June/July 66.

There should be a small metal tag riveted to the inside of the drivers door. Not sure why there are two different types of motor mounts

Pop the hood and look at the top of the driver side fender just after the hood spring. You should come across your VIN stamped into the metal.

Jezz, my stang could be a 66. It has the 66 frame, engine, wheels (not hubs), and really anything else mechanical. Everything else is 65 including the gauges, chrome, emblems and what not. Guess they figured in August of 65 that it was a good time to start a switch.

Ford had a policy of using up parts from the previous year if they were similar. That's why you have some odd parts on the earliest cars from each year.

My SN is 6T07T104171. That means it is a 6cyl coupe, built at the Meteuchen, NJ plant and was the 4,171st made that year. The build date was 22 Sept. Without a door tag, the only way to determine build date is to guess at the serial numbers.

When you say motor mounts, you must be talking about the V8, since the six didn't change mounting styles in 66. If so, look at your current mount. If it has a stud that goes vertically thru a metal mount, you have the early one. If it has a horizontal bolt that passes thru a sheet metal mount, you have the later one.
