hey i have a 66 mustang with a 6 cylinder. it was giving me alot of problems the other day starting and running. i finnally got it started and checked it out first me and my father changed the points since then he changed the coil, points, plugs, condenser, rotor, distributor cap, wires, plugs, and we just changed the fuel fliter. its turning over but its not getting a spark and its not starting at all. please if anyone can help me at all id really appreciate it also if anyone knows the gap for the points i believe its 18 but correct me if im wrong.

Do you have voltage to the coil? Second make sure your points are clean. Try dipping a piece of paper in aceton then run it between the points this should clean away any oil or grease on the points. An air gap setting of 0.018 should be fine.

thanks for the advice the points are fine i dont understand it really i need to spend some more time tommorrow trying to figure it out if anyone else has some something to add please do

check to see if u have power to the coil. besure there is contact between the cap and rotor (somtimes ive seen folks bend the little head of the rotor and it wont make contact) pull the distributor and check for rotation with no or little play in the gear and rotor. check the timing might be off 180 degrees. How are u checking your spark?

Check all wires twice...make sure you do not have what should be from the coil to the center of the distributor cap mis-routed to a spark plug lead from the dis cap.

Could also be miswired at the coil. As Got_Ford suggested looh for power at the coil with ignition in on position.

Firing order is 153624.
