My Oil Pan gasket blew on my engine. I jacked it up and the frame goes underneath the pan. Can I still pull off that pan somehow? Or will I stil be able to install the new gasket bye only droping the pan a few inches? Any one ever replace there oilpan gasket with the engine still in the car? thanx kev.

I have done it twice with the motor in thr car. I undid the sway bar mounts at the front of the frame and pull the bar down (leaving the end links attached) and the pan slipped out over the crossmember and steering linkage without a problem (for me anyway).

This was on a '65 Mustang w/ a 200.
