Well heres the thing I've rebuilt the engine keeping it stock, and the c-4 tranny and they both have less than 2000 miles on them but my carb is getting to be a pain in the butt and becoming less and less reliable. It is a 79 mustang. So the question is what is your opinion on what will be the best thing to go with, taking into acount reliability and performance. The only real modification I plan to do afterwords it a hooker super comp header which I have yet to install, and a ram air set up to look cool. Thanks in advance.....

What exactly is wrong with the carb? Would it be an option to just have it rebuilt? I am happy with the Autolite 1100 i have topped on my 68's 200.

For a basic build, I would look at either a Weber 32/36 or a Holley 5200

I agree with Levi. Those carbs are highly tunable. I would go with the 32/36 DFV (same as the 5200?) however. The primary bore is on the left side of the pair. With the linkage almost three inches aft, all you need to do is extend the throttle link a couple of inches and hook it back up.

The pic below shows my installation of my "Two Dollar Carb" I found at a garage sale and rebuilt. The cable running in front of the extended link is the cruise control.

Hope this helps, Ric.

PS. Remember to switch to the Dizzy as well if you make this mod.
