I’ve seen several videos on installation. I have the parts will do the install soon with the distributor in the vehicle. One question, does piston #1 need to be at TDC when doing the install? Don’t see this mentioned anywhere so I’m assuming it’s not important and to just do the timing after install.
Thanks
Tony

No, the engine doesn't need to be set at TDC to install the Pertronix with the distributor in the car.
If you pull the distributor out to install the Pertronix, then it would be best to set the engine at TDC.

Thanks, with the Ignitor II, does the vacuum line to the distributor need to be disconnected? Just wondering since the Ignitor II also controls advance.

Yes the vacuum needs to be connected. The igniter II controls dwell relative to rpm, but not advance. When it says, "compensates for inherent electronic delay by adjusting spark timing..." it's referring to micro adjustments within itself, not the net advance curve for the engine. Timing is still controlled by centrifugal and vacuum advance, same as points.

The kit replaces the points/condenser, that's it, recheck timing, leave vac line on, you car will run ALOT better, follow directions closely, wiring it backwards will kill it....

His 1966 170 Bronco Six Engine has the old Load O Matic Distributor in it used with a Autolite 1100 SCV Carb so there is no Centrifugal Advance in those Distributors. Also if its not hooked up to the SCV Carb's Vacuum Advance Line than it won't be able to Advance at all from the Base Timing Setting. Best of luck

I've had a pertonix in my '64 Fairlane for about 15 years now. Never had a lick of trouble with it, even when one of the kiddos got the cables backwards when we were doing a jump start.

chuck it (sorry).
UR post '64 motor so can use the whole DSII system (electronic) and non LOM/SCV system (upgrade carb).
A true 'performance' system' (performance = MPGs'n pep) a low maintenence one.
The Tech Archive (above horr. blue line, just R of center
can get U up to speed on all things ThriftPower (6, ford, i6 motors).
