I thought I read something that said that the vac nipple in the duraspark dizzy should point towards #6 cyl. Mine points almost towards the master cyl on my stang. The timing is correct, so does this make a difference? I still have some starting probs from time to time. Could this have anything to do with it?

Howdy Back:

Where exactly the nipple points is dependent on many variables. That is points back toward the fire wall is a good generality. Some where from the M/C to the #6 plug is a range.

Some variables that would effect this may include timing chain and gear wear, distributor gear and shaft wear, misalignment of the timing mark and/or marker, amount of initial advance.

If your's is pointing to the M/C, it is likely that you don't have much initial advance.

Adios, David

David,

Thanks fo the info. Should I pull it out and point it towards the firewall and #6? Should I replace the timing chain? Could this be a factor in my occasional starting problems? I have advanced the timing 5deg.

Thanks again

I doesn't matter where it points because it depends on how you put it in. So long as you set TDC, it could point forward and still be okay.
