Last night a kid in one of the new turbo Neons came by our hang out and had 9.50 on the window where he had just come from the track. My friend stired it up an we took off. He was saying his Neon was not good from a dead stop so we hit it from a slow roll. I thought the turbo Neon would be good from a roll but the nitrous six was way too much for it. We tried a faster roll and the same thing happened again. Well, we both had a good time. I got to give it up for the stock four banger that runs 9.50s. I cant wait till someone hops one up good! SLEEEEEEPER!

You're talkin 1/8 mile right? What is done to your 6 and what's it in. I'm building a '63 Ranchero, 200, .030 over, 250 head, heavy rework, Isky 262 cam, header and Holley/Weber 5200. My next project is a '71 Maverick Grabber with a 250.

9:50's are real good. My Vette ran 9:60's (1/8) at L.A.C.R. The altitude correction was .97 so at sea level it would have been 9:30's

Ok, now I see the bottom of your post. That's cool. Mustang is about the same weight as my Maverick. 250 has low compression so you got me thinking here.

What size nitrous shot do you use? What did you have to do to your engine to get it to take the nitrous (assuming forged crank/pistons, nice gaskets, ARP studs and bolts, etc.)?

I wish I could put a hurtin on a 9.50 1/4 mile car with my six! Naa that is just 1/8 mile time.

It depends on how fast I want it to go! Most of the time 75 or 100. As far as my motor goes, I rebuilt it with mostly stock parts and 2.3L cast pistons. I did use ARP rod bolts. 200s RULE!

We have a couple of guys that race with Goodguys running GM 6's in roadsters and one twin engine dragster that are running 8's in the 1/4. Mike Kirby runs Kay Sissells twin engine car and I forget who runs the T-roadster with the 302 Jimmy.

I have toyed with building a 250 Maverick motor for a dragster.

Someday when I'm rich and famous.
