i could use a drop base, going to use a clifford adapter instead of the stovebolt one because its shorter. mavericks really dont have alot of hood clearence when it come to 250 I6's. maybe a drop base will work not 4 sure.

I'd definitely try that before cutting a hole in the hood. If the air cleaner doesn't drop it enough, I would look into reshaping the hood brace, that's the usual point of contact. Or fabbing my own base for the air cleaner. It's been done before.
Unless you just like the look; whatever floats your boat. I'm just trying to give alternatives.
The 250 doesn't seem to fit well in anything except 69-72 Mustangs.
