Rebuilt head initial start-up

I had the head rebuilt, and everything is back together, but I don't want to do any damage by not following the proper procedure. Additionally, I pulled my gas tank, so all of the lines are dry.

1. Do I need to prime the fuel lines and pump somehow?
2. What's the proper start-up procedure for a rebuilt head?

Just start it up. The only special break-in procedures are for new rings. You will need to make sure the valves are adjusted correctly, of course.

You didnt remove or change lifters? Not solid lifters I assume? Easy then..
Like others have said rings cam and lifters are what need the critical breakins. Maybe just use some assembly lube on the valve and pushrod tips where they touch the rocker arms. I would crank it till the oil pressure comes up which should be less time than it will take to get fuel up there. If it starts then great if not and you dont want to keep cranking see if your carb has a bowl vent tube that you can pour gas pour some gas in there and it should start. By the time the bowl empties it should have got gas from the tank and stay running. Pouring it down the vent into the bowl is easier on it than down the throat or using starting fluid because it flows though normally and isnt as hard on things as having all the extra fuel.

Hydraulic lifters with adjustable rockers. I forgot to mention that. Okay, thanks for the help. One more thing...I know how to adjust the pushrods, but the recommendation is to do it while the engine is warm? How tight should the pushrods be on a cold start?
