Regrind Vs New Camshaft.

Its kind of a toss up...
New you know is good ... or should be...
reground ... would have to be retempered and may be britill... I'm using a reground in my comet I just got on the road I guess I'll find out how well it is in a while..

There has been some speculation as to some new cam's distributor gears being slightly off from the factory spec (causing broken dizzy gears at the cam).

If that is true, then a regrind of a original cam should prevent that from happening.

That is my line of thinking, for sure. Providing the journals and dizzy helix are OK, I'd prefer a regrind for personal use.

Most old engine performance cams are regrinds anyways (ignoring SBC and SBF V8's). For a performance cam, they simply grind down the base circle since they can't add material to the lobe without getting bigger than the bearing journals. Assuming you can get the regrind done right, I don't see a difference.
