Removing heater box/fan...

How would I go about removing the heater box/fan from my XF?
...Would I have to take out the whole dash or not?
...Cos i think its completely buggered - the fan doesnt work on any setting

try a new switch, and mabie fan speed resisters, but even if there stuffed it should work flat out still. only pulled one out before, u jast have to pull the dash back, not out, coupe a bolts in the engine bay, and away ya go, alloow alot of frustration though

The removal is lots of fun. The fan sits right against the bulkhead, and is hard to get to without removal of the dash.

I assume this was done to reduce the noise of the fan. The Blackwood Falcons have many cubic meters of car to heat or cool, and has huge glass areas too.

The XF fan is bigger than the XE, and can be rather fiddly if you have AC.

Check the heater core if you are going to remove the dash to get to it.

Yeah my XF does have aircon... but doesnt work. Im guessing cos the fan doesnt work, lol.

But so far, ive taken off the dash panel but havent actually taken out the WHOLE dash assembly, its loose though... But does the WHOLE dash assembly have to be removed to take out the fan if my car has aircon???

pretty sure the dash board has to come back, a few bolts allong the windscreen 6 or so, then near ya speakers near ya kick pannewl, then afew more near ya radio

I think the whole jolly thing needs to come out. I wrecked one last year, and I think the whole lot had to be moved to get to the motor. The xf heater air box is massive, much bigger than my XE.

Dynoed 250, A7M, backlash are sure to know.

Done that... but it feels like its stuck around the handbrake lever, no screws, theyre all off... but there's this metal thingy majig around the handbrake lever that the dash assemble is getting stuck on...

Also, by changing the fan, does that change the resistor? ie. are they inside the fan?

mate...... i couldnt tell u where they r, but if there stuffed ya fan i THINK should still work on 4.
have u got the hb un bolted yet?

Nah, it wasnt working on any of the fan speeds.
Im pretty certain ive taken off every screw.
Whats the hb?

like i said its been ages since ive done one.. theres 2 ten mill bolts around there i think and theres a few holdind the hand brake to the dash i think ??? not sure on that

hmmm.. might have 2 take a better look at the break of dawn 2moro... boy is it gonna be a long day! So many fragile plastic parts that dont go 2 well with my temper (...impatient! ) ...maybe drinky some alcohol - may ease the temper?

fords lost the plot in the late 80's ive done a heap ef/el ones and there a pice of piss. i like xf's and all i just tend to break things easy. thats why the cortin is good, the heater box is out sider. :< pitty i had to remove mine to fit my injection in, o well small trade off

Yep, drink a bit, and remember. Fords Nippon Clippon plastic bits are just like the Jap ones, only they don't like to clip back without breaking.

A good bit on music, some beer, and a good mental attitude.

I don't listen too music, drink beer, or a have a good mental attitude when tinkering, and am cranky as he11 until I fix something. So if that doesn't work for me, then do something I don't.

i seriously think interior work dashes and stiff and door locks, and all that is more bull shit than working on motors, i HATE PUTTING DOORS BACK TO GETHER thats why my car still has no door handles or barrles, i hate it so much

Yeah i know i shouldnt have started doin it, but ive pretty much taken off every nut & bolt in the dash... and am almost there... so i might as well finish what ive started, lol.

if only i could go back in time, and stopped myself from starting something i didnt really wanna do
