what size roller rockers would I need and will 302 rockers work? I will be puting them on a 170 head!

Unforchanittly the 302 rockers are very different in the way they mount, and sizing.

Most common roller upgrade for the small sixes is the "Street Terra" set sold by AzCoupe and other perfomance shops. Adapting something else to fit is probably do-able, but you'd want to carefully examine the geometry during travel, so that it wasn't compromising the valve operation at all.

Regards, Adam.

Thats just too much to pay!!! there has to be a better way to go about getting them without paying an arm and a leg for them!!!!

Tell you what: if you find it then let us know! Maybe you shouldn't be so set on roller rockers. Do some other modifications first so that you can get some benefit out of the roller rockers; IMO they would be useless on a near-stock machine.

A much easier and cheaper way to increase performance would be to purchace a late 70's early 80's 200 head to replace that 170 one.

its not near stock. 260 cam bored 60 over, pertronix ignition, weber 2 bbl, header, new rebuilt head.

Ah. Sounds like a good setup. The problem is that there isn't enough volume for the six-cylinder parts industry to bring the prices down. It's like trying to get a roller setup for a 302 in 1978: you're gonna pay. Sorry.

with your setup why do you want roller rockers..with the cam you have will the the rockers be a benefit

the yella terra rockers are shipped to mike from Australlia, so if it wasn't for mike, we wouldn't have them available. most of the cost of the $545 is in shipping. take out $100 for the lifters and pushrods, so your at $445 for the rockers themselves, now figure, a good set of roller rockers for a SBC could cost $400. now the price for the yella terra full rollers, isn't such a bad price at all, considering shipping costs contrey to contrey

I hate to say it, but they charge even more for them here! :x Close on $600 just for the rockers.

well thanks for all the help, I guess I just have to decide if I want them bad enough.

You could add them down the line. From memory, a couple of guys here have run oil-through lifters without oil-through pushrods.

That'd mean you could later fit roller rockers without pulling the head.
