Firstly, I am on the right lines, thinking that this is possible? Right?

I'm probably going to start with a dual out header, and converting from a single to dual exhaust.

I have found that Clifford produce a suitable dual out header:

But, is it as simple as fitting a dual exhaust system, as on the V8 289 engines, or will it be more complicated than that? I would really like to hear from people who have upgraded to a dual exhaust, from single.

Also, I would very much appreciate people letting me know of suppliers and parts that are recommended.

Thanks!

To be honest, when I had mine done about 10 years ago I just gave the header and exhaust to a friend of mine that owns an exhaust shop and he modified it to fit.

I don't think it was that difficult to do since they didn't have to do anything to the majority of the pipes. Any good exhaust shop should be able to do it for you.

My problem is maybe one Mustang specialist in the UK, and I am probably better off buying parts.

Thanks, very helpful :D

I've been been looking on the Internet tonight, and found:

This may not add a new intake manifold, with a couple of carbs, but must improve on my current stock setup?

Clifford can supply a dual outlet exhaust header; would a 6-into-2 with a Y pipe into a single exhaust be best, or just a 6-into-1 ignoring the Y pipe. I am thinking that if I go with the first option, I can later add a dual exhaust system (when time and money allow).

Buy the Jet Hot coated dual out header from FSPP. I chose to use Borla ProXS mufflers for my dual exhaust setup. They sound great. Click on my sig pic to see my header and dual exhaust system.

Was it difficult to fit the full system? Time consuming?

Have you noticed any advantages of the jet hot coated system, over regular?

The jet hot coating will keep things cooler and also make them last a lot longer.

I have a set of the coated headers from FSPP and I love them.

Run the pipes back to dual mufflers, keeping three on one side and three on the other, much better than a y-pipe on a six.

Not hard to run... Doug's setup is very similar to mine, only I ran my pipes through an aftermarket GT valance, using the 65 tips. Sounds and looks great.

Plus the coating will keep them rust free, and they look great.
The price is much better and the quality of the headers is better...
