what kind of wires do I need?
I want to get yellow accel wires...8mm

but they have wires that say
Suppression
Copper Spark
Spiral Spark

whats the difference?

Well
suppression = raido ignition noise cut down (prob a sylicone wire)
copper spark= copper wire
spiral spark= stranded wire
I'm not total sure but it sounds right.

Howdy Chaz and All:

The suppression wires have a core of graphite impregnated arrimide fibers (most liekly fiberglass). They have little/no radio interference. They are a good upgrade over stock wires. That is what came on your engine from the factory.

Copper core wires have the least resistance, but don't plan on listening to the radio. Interference is obvious. They are the only way to go for maximum performance.

Spiral core wires are the best of both worlds. Little resistance and no static.

With spark plug wires it's what's on the inside that counts, Color is only cosmetic.

If you can, get a set of custom wires with molded connectors on both ends. There will be less chance of a bad connection as compared to the cut to length universal kits.

I know THAT!!!

Thanks though david, you explained it perfectly!

I did get wires (8mm spiral) with the kind of ends that you have to trim and put on supplied connectors

I can then have a nice wire run and tight connections

and their BLUE!

Be sure to use a vulcanizing paste during the assembly. Then use the paste to seal the end with a bead 360 degrees around the boot at the wire.

With these high output systems any opening in the connection will find it’s way to ground.

When installing to the engine be sure to use dialectic grease. This will also seal the boot to the dizzy cap and spark plug as well as make it easier to remove for maintenance.

Have fun, Ric.

Good choice. Spiral wound also have a VERY long service life.

I try to avoid Accel, since Mr Gasket bought them they have been importing their wires and I have had bad ones. Every year when you do your tune up, use an ohm meter to measure the resistance of the wires. But modern ignition systems will usually fire the plugs even if you have a bad wire!
