  • I picked up a 1978 200 a while ago, for no other purpose other than I was bored and needed a road-trip to New Jersey.
  • The head has been cleaned and no cracks found. It is sitting on a shelf, partially pocket ported ... (for sale soon)
  • The block has not been inspected yet. It is sitting on an engine stand. Assume it's good and can be bored.
  • Also assume it's going in my 65 Mustang Coupe. My HP goal is... about 400ish
  • Reply with your suggestions/ideas on the Carb/EFI, Ignition, Pistons, Cam, AL Head?, Tranny, Reardiff, Exhaust, Turbo???
  • Upvote the replies you like, downvote the ones you don't (up/down arrows on the right of the replies).
  • Let's have some fun with this!
As 'decisions' are made, they'll be posted here, subject to change.

- offered to sanity check our torque plate. because... no one wants to wreck a chunk of stock :D - which is awfully gracious of the owner.
- Makes insert bushings too: https://ccaracing.com/engine-block-tooling/

The reason why you don't need the Programmable 6AL-2, as I stated earlier, The Holley Sniper controls the ignition timing.
The ignition box is a slave unit being triggered by the Holley Sniper.

http://rockerarms.com/pages/ford.html Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list, there are 2 items -
F-44RA & F-44RRA - but the application info is not filled in the table.

Do you have someone that can fabricate the header?
You're lookin' at him pal... :D I will check with some local sources.
@pmuller9 - we should endeavor to have a off-the-shelf solution at the 'end' of this.

I 'have' a C-4 in the car now hooked up to the engine in my sig. The other trend I've noticed are cars going to automatic...

An auto tranny is good. A high stall speed torque converter will get you into the power band sooner as well as help turbo spool time.
You won't have to worry about engine power below stall rpm.
You will need to beef up the C4.

Glad to see you have fabrication skills.

I'll have to find someone to cut some header flanges, but otherwise I can get that cobbled together. @CNC-Dude maybe? @CoupeBoy
I also have a local source for CNC cutting stuff, plus I'll ask the machinist I'm working on. - he did say "I like the oddball projects"

You can draw up the flanges and have them waterjet cut.
Here are the pictures of "67straightsix" equal length turbo headers for his 67 Mustang.

Yeah, seen those.. so, the concept there is... literally the same distance in to out through all ports - i.e. the path is - lets say - 36" through all tubes terminating at the same place.

Saw something about plumbing under the engine to the driver side....

Note: Buy good starter.

A 200 six is relatively small so the long tube header helps with overall torque.
The other advantage of long tubes is they actually provide scavenging and can drop the pressure at the exhaust port to zero.
I've spent considerable time data logging our turbo engines from the past

In order to help with heat the header can be thermal coated and a thermal blanket can be used on the turbocharger.
