thermostat 180 or 195??

Hi,
I've been running a 195* thermostat for years, but I'm thinking a 180 might be an all around better choice since i sometimes get temp spikes that are up in the 200s, even with an aluminum radiator. Any opinions?

Depends on your climate, as to which is better, but 200F is really not that hot...

If you live somewhere very cold, run a 195, you will be glad for the extra heater output, otherwise 180 is likely a better choice.

X2

Well, being a convertible it really is a three season car. Boulder is between 70 and 95 most of the driving season, so 180 it is. Also, I always keep a nice blanket or two in the trunk since rear seat passengers get no heat with the top down anyhow.
