Does anyone know where I can get them? Someone on the forum (in CO?)used to have them, but I've been waiting for my head, and I lost the email address.

Yes it was MarkP, if I recall his were not the thin steel ones but a composite one that was thinner than current ones, but not as thin as the steel ones. I had about 12 of these last year, that I found on the net. Sold most of them to members here and if I recall I sold one to MarkP too! The benefit of the steel gasket is to raise compression ratio, this can also be done without the steel gasket by milling your head, or by decking your engine block when rebuilding. I recommend milling or decking the head or block while rebuilding, the steel gaskets are really only needed if you have already rebuilt your engine and forgot to compensate for the thicker headgasket of today!

If I recall from the Falcon rebuild booklet, you can shave .050 - .100 off the head and still use the stock rocker arms, as the early stock ford sixes used the steel head gasket, and the current felpro type gaskets are about .049 thicker than the stock ones, so you can mill quite a bit off these and still use the stock rocker arms. I would recommend using the adjustable as they offer more control and adjustment for greater power if you get the 1.6 ratio rockers.

I have 1 (maybe 2, if another guy bails out) of Ford's 'C' series composite gaskets left for sale. These were slightly thicker than the steel ones (about .007" thicker), but lots thinner than the FelPro or Victor variety.
If your engine is out, I highly recommend decking the block NOW to ease up the problem of finding these gaskets: deck it .027" to "come out even" with a NAPA/Victor gasket (.045" thick). You'll be very glad you did, especially when it comes to gas mileage later.
If you only have the head off and want that last one of mine, send me a post with your address so I can calculate shipping to you. The gasket is $35, plus shipping.
