Thinking out loud on DIS ignition for the Inline six.

My apologies because I cant remember the name but someone took a 2.3L housing, modified it with a inline six reluctor and pickup and converted it to a 3.3L inline six with TFI ignition module. He also had to swap the inline six cam gear over and redrill and pin it.

Which got me thinking even further.

My 91 2.3L Mustang has a DIS but it doesnt use a crank trigger. It uses a cam position sensor.

Seems like if a 2.3L distributor can be modified to fit a Inline six the cam position sensor might be able to be modified to fit teh inline six.

The only thing I think I would need to find is a six cylinder distributor-less ignition module.

The ignition control module for the 2.3L looks kinda like a double ended TFI module.

8) you might consider using someting from say a late model 4.0L mustang or explorer with the dis ignition system. you might even be able to use the crank position sensor from that engine as well.

as i understand it the same people who brought us the megasquirt efi system also have an ignition controller, and it may operate a dis ignition.
