throttle linkage question

hey everyone.

i have a 66 mustang 200, and i'm wondering if anyone has a pic of how the return spring attaches to the linkage on the carb. when i bought the car, the linkage from the carb was attached to the linkage from the pedal with mechanics wire, and a huge patio door spring went from the linkage to the frame! i'd really like to get this right this year, but i can't visualize how it should be run. any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated.

You can get an assortment of replacement springs of various sizes at the auto parts store. The stock return spring hooks to the end of the linkage where it connects to the carb and goes straight down to the exhaust flange. The stock flange has a hole in it where the spring connects on the other end.

Don't use too heavy of a spring because your foot gets tired pushing down. Too weak and the throttle won't come back. That's why I said to get an assortment. They are not expensive.

thanks ludwig that's exactly what i was looking for. i got a new linkage for the worn out part from the pedal, and now i know where to attach the spring. thanks again

My auto parts stores suck for those types of things. If yours are bad like mine, just go to Ace or TruValue or any small hardware store. They'll have a lot.
