I was racing my 200 a little hard yesterday (running it against a BMW Z3 through some turns) and i got home and when i turned down the music i heard a consistent ticking. I think it is a lifter. How do those go bad? Do you think i maybe floated a valve? Suggestions??
thanks guys

yea i thought exhaust gasket, but it really sounds like its coming from #1 cylinder in the valve cover. The car still runs REALLY smooth, so what does that mean?? It has absolutely no difference in running, how it cranks up, how it accelerates, etc. all is fine. It just ticks. I've has a leaky exhaust gasket before, and it just doesnt sound like that this time...

yeah...forget the damage..did you win? LOL

I was actually thinking that

First off just make sure you have the proper oil level. I have also freed up stuck lifters with Marvel Mystery oil. I usually don't recommend "fix all" products, but it has worked on a couple of occasions. Also an oil change and or flush may be in order.

I'd pull the rocker cover & check for looseness in the valvetrain. Maybe an adjusting nut(or bolt) backed off? Maybe you floated a valve & bent a pushrod? If you find a loose adjusting nut, remove that pushrod & check it for straightness by rolling it on a known flat table. If that's ok, assume that the adjustment backed off. Replace the nut(or bolt & maybe put some loctite on the threads.
And of course the all important question:Did you open a can of Whoop-a$$ on the Bimmer?

he must have cleaned the guys clock since he now has a ticking....

hell yea i whooped its A$$. We were even in the twisties. I recently rebuilt my suspension with all of the performance parts i could get, over $1000 in parts and it was awesome! The guy i raced is actually in my class at school and he said he was fish-tailing and stuff while i was pulling away
I love victory, at whatever cost
