I installed a 69-70 250 I6 timing chain and gears today. I have a 76 Mav. I could not believe how much I had to advance the distributor after starting the engine. When I first started the engine, the engine did it's best impression of a old John Deere Tractor. Then I moved the distributor and the engine smoothed out. With a little carb adjusting and timing work the car runs great. But with al the good news, there is a down side. I have a new oil leak. Out of the front of the engine. I did change the engine seal and all the gaskets for the pan, but still have a leak.
My next plan is to remove the power steering and at that time, I'll pull the center link and remove the pan, and glue it to the engine. No more leak.
