I think he means too thick oil in your transmission. I'm not sure how much that will effect things by itself. I've run my mustang with straight 80 in the old 2.77 in 0*F weather. Oil was so thick I couldn't get the transmission into gear but the engine ran fine. Once the oil warmed up some it was fine. Granted, it took the engine running about 15 minutes to do that. But, could very well be that with the bearing goop in there there is too much friction which is causing the input shaft and sector to try to turn one of the gears.
My guess is your clutch is not properly adjusted. Or, worst case, you have the clutch disc in backwards (not that I've ever done that...
)
