I drove it all the way to the track Saturday night and made a ton of passes in it. It did not make any real fast runs but I was very happy with how it did. It went 9.40s@74mph. It is an 1/8th mile track. The track was very good as far as hooking goes. It felt strong off the line. I was cutting 2.0 60' with ease on the stock 165 13" tires! That is by far the best 60' it has ever done. I thought that was cool! It does not have the top end pull and mph like I thought it would. But the track we went to is up hill and is about two to three tenths slower than the other tracks so I know it hurt the ET and I guess that might have hurt the mph a little. I was happy with it and had a lot of fun. I drove it all the way there on pump gas and ran it very hard all night and then drove it home with no problem. It is not near as fast as the old nitrous motor. It went 9.0s@80mph and 2.3 60' with small 75 shot at a better track. But then again the turbo motor is still a stock 64 four main 200. I did get an intercooler for it Saturday night so I am going to work on that soon. I think I might try a real carb hat from CSU and see what that does also. Well, I figured I would let you guys know what my junk ran.

Dan

First off, that is sweet. That you have turbo charged that 200 and your racing it and having fun. Nice!!! How much boost are you running? Do you have any other mods on this particular engine (head work, cam, etc...)?

I can't waint to start driving my car again.

i'd really like to see some pictures of that. under the hood that is.

What's the A/R ratio? Too low could be a factor in running outta steam at the top end. That's only book-worming talking. No practical experience here, but always looking to learn from those who have it. :)

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to hear about how your car evolves through tuning. All these turbo reports are making it awfully difficult to commit to building a good high compression motor. GAH!!!!

Yeah Dan, props to you for getting it out to the track. Please list turbo specs again.

2.0 sec/60ft ??? On 165/13s!!!

The boost must come on quick. Did you have to work at getting traction? Did you have a big friend named Bubba sitting on your trunk lid at the start???

hey dan does disney have the shiney car running yet? I am getting my merk together so maybe I will have to see if I can show him up in that.

Thats awesome man! Ive only gotta pay my tranny nonsense off and then I will be lookin to follow in your footsteps. I hope you get things worked out and get that car goin faster! Did you do this at Music City?? When I get back from Florida I will look for you there!
Matt

Thanks guys! I am going to do some more to the stock 200 and see just what the four main can take. It has held up great so far!

hindle_az, I am running 12 psi on pump gass and no intercooler. The '64 200 short block is 100% stock(cam and everything). I am using my '77 250 head on it. It is basicly stock with a little port clean up and some Clifford springs, locks, and retainers.

itwasntme, Check it out in the link in my sig!

Mikey, the Inovative Motorsports wide band is on it's way! That should be VERY helpfull in getting the A/R just right. I thought the same thing as you this weekend(not enough fuel?) so I changed out the jets and went up a few #s but it slowed it down. This thing runs like a whole diffrent car when it cools off outside. I guess no IC is not helping anything!

asa67_stang, I am not sure .......SLOW! It is probably around a mid 14 sec time. I would like to take it to the 1/4 when I get it running a little better.

Inliner, What's up dude!!!! Yea, it was leaving good on the little tires! The track was great as far as that goes. It took some work to get the launch just right but I found I could stall it up to about 5 inches of vaccum and mash it and it would take right off with little or no spin. Any higher than that and it would spin all the way through first gear. By far the best 60's it has ever cut. Bubba was not with me this time but that is an idea. :D

62fairlane170, Yea Dis got it going a few months ago. It is running really good to! Like smoking new Vettes good. Not bad for a stock 5.0 Lincoln! I thought I might be able to smoke him in the turbo six but that is not looking good so far at all!

Matt, no we went to Buffalo Valley. It would have run way faster at Music City but I would not have been able to run as much at all. Yea, need to get yours going soon. Nothin to it but to do it!!!

Oops- adding to confusion.

I was referring to the A/R ratio of the turbo. Lower A/R spools up faster, but runs out of breath at top end. Higher A/R spools slower (more lag), but provides more top end power. Dunno what sould be considered "high" and "low."

I wonder if this is the different trim packages in turbo families- i.e. T04B vs. T04S, etc.

Congrats on getting the gurl runnin... Im thinkin about doing the same to my six, i have a T-1. How much does yours wine. A buddy said he would bet that is all you would here on a lil six like my 200.

 What am I thinking? I was thinking A/F not A/R sorry. :D I am using a stock GN T-3 exhaust housing that is a .63 A/R and a Turbonetics compressor that is a little over stock. I am not sure of the A/R on that.

dan,

I rode in the linc right before easter when he blew the head gaskets to crap (followed him back home with lots of water.....which it promptly drank. by the time school got out he still had it apart and was workign on getitng some better gaskets or studs or something. when I rode in it it was running on 6 holes or so and was only moderatly fast. well I guess I need ot get that hybrid and intercooler on my merk and go give hime a good run for his money.....well at least I will be able to take him in the twisties...

Ya Kelly's Falcon sounds like a pissed off Hoover while accelerating! And when she's lifts, the BOV sounds like someone shot a hole in a tire. The BOV is very obnoxious! I love it!
But Dan is right, when just cruising around it sounds and drives like a normal Falcon. Although our exhaust is a bit loud for a stocker! Hehehehe!
