I bought triple webers from carbs unlimited to save some $'s but now I am wondering if you get anything different if you buy from clifford. Are there instructions or anything. I got some with the offy but i have some questions about the 34 ich carbs.

1. What is the device on the side with the hook-up for the wire?

2. Do i need to modify the accelerator pump on the outer carbs?

3. Is there a part number to buy for the throttle arm on the carb? i don't have any. I can make them but would rather not.

Anything else I need to know?

Amen, praisethelowered

Your not the first to have a few questions about this carb. I'm not carb expert, my last gasoline car was in 1994, but I have had a dabble with Weber carbs from my long experience with Minis, VW Golfs (Rabbits in your house) and Pinto engined Cortinas.

Here is another one:-

I guess I'm a little embarassed that there are 7 pages on unanswered threads here, not just on your carbs, but that does do nothing for me. A percentage of them are from less than 10 posters, so I guess we'd better look at clearing the backlog!

The item labled 10 is the idle stop solenoid, which stops dieseling/run-on. They are common emmissions era fittings for carb vehicles. These carbs are very similar top the Zenith carbs I found on an old VX 4/90 Vauxhall. I've used them a couple of times. Those old cars had a twin carb set up in a 92 and 97 cube four, but they were on all the time. A s far as I am aware, you could run all three if you wanted to because the whole ciruits are fully adjustable. Weber had a huge amount of jets for this carb, and it fed has feed a lot of Dak-Daks gasoline! My old 1958 PA Vauxhall had on 138 cube version of the 92 cid engine, and I planed to run tripple Zeniths. My suggestion is to run a single link rod to all there, and use a cable. There is an excellent Weber carb book which shows how linkages are to be run, I'll see if I can get some info from it

As for jet sizes, if its going to be staged, your on a mission to get the linkage on board first, then you'll have to jet to suit

These carbs were also used on the BMW 2002. I can help you with any questions as I am running 3 of these on my 200.

the diagram is a good start, maybe i'll look at some BMW 2002 info as well- that should be easy to find here. The offenhuaser manifold came with all the linkage I need except the arm that attaches to the carb.

Bill, I actually printed out photos of your set-up to help me. It appears that you actually hooked up the idle stop solenoid on the center carb and removed it on the outers.

what did you hook it up to and what purpose does it serve?
how did you plug the outer ones or did they come that way?
did the throttle arms on the carbs come with your carbs or did you make them up?

also- xecute
do you have the list that goes with that diagram?

I was ignorant and bought the carbs from Clifford, they said that since the outer carbs were not open during low throttle conditions, that only the center car needed the idle circuit connected. i hooke it up to a poistive power source on the starter selenoid (one the has juice with teh key in the on position).

I guess I have never really looked at what the other two are plugged with, I can take a look and snap some pictures for you, whats your e-mail address?

With regards to teh linkage that actually connects to the carb, just about any parts store should have what you need, I know there is a NAPA here in town that has all the rough parts to make the linkage from the throttle lever to the center carb, or you might be able to use the stock one....

Let me know if you need anything else.

Oops I just reread your post and are you talking about the throttel arms on the carb that actually activate the butterfly? I had to remove the stock ones and use these, I will take a pic of them for you if thats what you mean....

yes, that is what I mean- the levers on the carbs themselves. I have all of the offy linkage ready to go . Like I said I have some pictures of yours but it shows it straight from the side. Where did you get them- or did you make them?

Thanks for the info on the idle stop selenoid- what does that thing do anyway?

From the photos I have it looks like your outers have small brass plugs in them where the selenoid would be.

I have no idea what it does, but it took about 2 seconds to hook up, so I just did it, smile.

The things on the carbs themselves were sent to me by clifford, but ofcourse did not fit, so I had to do a pretty good amount of customizng and grinding to get them to work. I think you could make some out of a piece of thin stock steel, there really is nothing too them. I looked and dont have any real good pictures of them on thsi computer, but I could take one tonight for you.

thanks but I don't need a photo - they do seem easy enough to make. . . I just wanted to avoid it if I could. Thanks for your help.

When I was there we had this all figured out. I guess they forgot or do not know. They, Clifford, are supposed to take the solenoids off and put in a brass "plug" on all of the Carbs. This is do to the fact that one you will not use the solenoids and two, they get in the way of the linkage. They, Clifford< are suppose to add three little pieces of linkage to complete the Offy linkage. I belive it is either 2 right hand levers and 1 left or vice versa, can not remeber as it has been awhile since I have had to think or order those things. The levers will atach the carb linkage from the carb itself to the Offy linkage.

Hope this helps
