Hello everyone. It has been a little while since I last posted, and I have finally found time to get the initial projects completed. I learned a lot about my car, and couldn't have done what little I have without the help I received here since I am learning as I go.

Here are a couple of photos of the engine bay as it sits today.

This first one shows the new headers, starter, fab-ed linkage, carb adapter, rerouted heater hose, etc.

Second one shows the DSII distributor, Module mounted to the fender well, and the coil in the stock location. (please disregard the temporary red jumper wire across the valve cover.)

So I have completed the DSII conversion, the 2v Weber carb swap and the headers . . . taking it to the exhaust shop this weekend to have that done. After reading a lot of threads here, I am starting with a set of turbo mufflers to see if I like sound.

Any advice on which way to go from here would be appreciated.

I was thinking: next up would be some suspension work. New shocks, anti sways and lowering the thing about 1 inch and an electric fan . . . then I'd like to install disk brakes, a late model head and a T-5 (but those last two seem a bit above my skill level).

Anyway, thanks again for all of the help to date. Who knows, maybe someday I can lend some help to someone based on what I learned here so far.

Thanks!

I used the Holley Weber progressive w/ electric choke from Stovebolt with his adapter, which I drilled so that it would place the carb perpendicular to the block. Do so made it possible to eliminate the ford adapter for hood clearance, and it was also much easier to use the existing throttle arm to fab. a linkage to the carb.

I have seen Stovebolt referenced and posted a bunch here so I will post a link, hopefully not breaking any rules:

All in all, this was a pretty easy swap, and once I figured out the carb (with much help from those here), it seems to run well and produces a great under hood sound when you get on the throttle.

I purchased the headers from another vendor, and not being sure of the rules won't post it here until I hear that is ok to do so.

Looking good!

You seem to have a good solid plan. If you had a manual transmission, the T5 upgrade is relatively easy. However, the C-4 to T5 is more complicated. The head swap is easy. If you put on headers, swapping a head is about 5% harder.

Suspension is a good thing to tackle on these old cars, especially if you don't know the condition. A good set of shocks and springs will drastically alter the feel of the car for the better. Also consider a true tower brace/monte carlo bar. At this age, the front shock towers can be a bit loose and bracing them will help the feel of the car.

With my set up, I love how the car handles. It handles almost as well as my 99 mustang did on back roads.

And brakes are always a good thing. No real need for disc brakes on the rear, but front ones make a world of difference.

Thanks Cobrasix.

Your bracing systems look great. Are they custom fabricated or can I find them available for purchase somewhere?

Also, are there front 1" drop coils for the 67 200CID or will I have to cut my stock coils?

Another q, should I be going with 1.75" or 2" dual exhaust for my application?

hello sir you have done youre job verywell,i have noticed you
have an new header,,i have also a new header ceramic coated,
yours looke the same what i have, but my problem was the starter
i have used a mini high torque, the only thing i have custom made
was de adapter plate to the bellhouse, because the starter from a
six has 2 bolts fore connecting and my starter was an 3 bolt connector.
now i am curiuos what starter did you use?
i have used type starter powermaster 9103,,powermax 160 ft-lb SB ford.
i have build a triple carb coversion,,,next plan is build the matching motor
from 1968 at the moment i have used a 1970 moter,the reason was i
couldn't get the right intake before, but now i got the intake for a '68
my topic is REBUILD NEW TRIPLE CARB.if you want can you watch the photo's
overthere.
greetz,,,,,JD,,

Thanks JD. I will follow your triple carb build, sounds like a fun project.

Based on the type of headers I ordered, and the model year of my Mustang, I had enough clearance to keep a stock style 3 bolt starter. I hope it doesn't go out anytime soon though as changing it will require header removal, which was one motivation for replacing it with a new one to begin with.

bucfan1234,
on the 1 inch lowering suspension it's even eaiser than finding 1 inch lowing spring, apply the shelby drop to the car, you'll be glad you did, 2 reasons, 1st it lowers your car 1 inch 2nd it aligns your steering better for a better handling feel on the road. then for the rear you only need to find a 1 inch lowering 5 leaf mideye set, usually on ebay or from a vender for $200, shop around and you might find it for $160. the disk brakes i have heard great things from scarebird.com

your project looks great! GL

Richard

PS, for the future head are you going to direct mount the 2v carb? and it's alright to post where you got parts from.

Could you post some pictures of the modification you did to the adapter? Also how did you connect the pcv vacuum hose?
