Hey guys, help me out here.

I just recently built a 200 for my Falcon. It has a Duraspark system on it. I've read a few post regarding timing this ignition and someone brought up having to have a vacuum canister. What the heck is a vacuum canister (what does it look like)? What does it do?

Thanks.

Hmm. I have a 200 in my 63 falcon and no vacuum canister. Perhaps they are referring to a canister that can be used in cars with high overlap cams. They generate minimal vacuum at idle, so they need some help generating vacuum for things like power brakes. I can't see why that would help you in this case though. Just run the vacuum advance hose to the carb and you should be good to go.

Thanks FF,

That's what I thought. I'm getting ready to fire her up. I'll try first without it.

My '68 has a vacuum canister its mounted INSIDE the fenderwell and it looks like an old coffee can. Its function is for the internal heater controls, which are vacuum operated. So when I stomp on it and have a vacuum drop, my heater does not change from heat to defost (or vice versa)

Mine is directly below the pass hood spring all you can see of it on the inside is 2 vacuum line connections.
