Hey, I recently put a 2 barrel holley on my straight 6 and I'm not sure exactly what the problem is but I feel like its vacuum. Whenever I have the car in reverse under load it will just cut off. Also whenever I try to give it a good bit of gas in gear it will cut off. Whenever its in park or neutral it will rev perfectly fine. The car will run fine if its idling in gear or just going steady speed in all 3 gears. Trans vacuum problem? I'm just getting into this kind of stuff so I don't know much. Thanks

I also have a dual advance vacuum and right now, I have the retard side open and the other going to the carb

You did not say if you have an automatic or not. If it is an auto, then you have a bad vacuum modulator at the tranny from the symptoms you describe.

If it is a manual tranny, check for vacuum leaks at or near the carb.

Good Luck.

Sorry it is an auto trans. I'll try and replace the modulator today and hopefully that will take care of it. Thanks

Sound to me like Accelator pump or may be float level to low/high or both.

These could also be symptoms, and they are easily fixed/checked. If need more info go to the Holley web-site under tech section, very detailed.
www.holley.com

On float level, while engine is running, unscrew the plug at the side of the bowl, it will be towards the firewall, and there should be just a hint of fuel dribbling out (this is on level ground). If not adjust per instruction at Holley tech section.

The accelerator pump, just look down the carb and they should squirt instantly once you hit the throttle. Again you can adjust this also via Holley tech section.

Good luck
