valve clearance on 144???

Hey guys,

I know this topic has been hashed to death, but I am very confused and concerned about my car. I've a stock 144 that has been rebuilt recently, and the valves all tick ALL the time. It has solid lifters, and I've even tried replacing the lifters with new ones, and they still tick. I have the clearance set to about .12" even though everyone on here says to set them at .16" as does the manual. I have played with several adjustments, and .10 makes it run rougher, but it doesn't tick as bad.... .16 makes it sound like a diesel, but she runs SMOOOOOTH, and .12 is a good compromise between the two. LaGrasta has a solid lifter 170 and no ticking when it warms up...why does mine tick all the time? Is that normal? What can I do to get rid of the ticking???
