Just a question on water pump choice

What pump and pulley would be better in a high rpm application

Im thinking that the XE/F style with the smaller pulley would not be very good for high revs as the impeller would spin to fast and thus creating cavitation in the pump housing resulting in hot spots.

The early large pulley system looks like it would be better in a performance application by under driving the pump and giving a steady flow at higher rpm
and no cavitation or hot spots

These are my thought's on this and I would like to hear from people who have had experience with both systems

Gassed,
If you intend to use this engine for consistantly high RPM work, then yes a larger water pump pulley would be required to slow down the rotational speed of the impellor in relation to the engine speed.
But another idea would be to look at the electric water pump that is now available.
Temperature controlled so only works as needed and is not related to engine speed or limited by it.
Of course altenator would still have to be thought of, but most things could be overcome with some thought.

Yes I have considered the Davies Craig 8005 electric pump and will probly go with it and disscard the mechanical pump all together
