What is a "Champion" carb?

Met a guy at the parts store today who stopped to look over the Mustang. He was there trying to find a replacement carb for HIS '65 Mustang. He mentioned that he had had no luck except for one place that listed a "Champion" carb for $130. He asked me what I knew about these. Nothing!

So, what is a champion carb?

IIRC Champion is a rebuilder, like Fenco or Cardone. He is likely talking about an autolite 1100 that was rebuilt by champion.
