Will this transmission fit?

Hi all,

Found a tranny with the right price. Wondering if it will fit. the tranny is a 5-speed from an 86 mustang 2.3l and I'm hoping it will fit in my 66 mustang. My car now has a 69 250 in it. If the tranny will fit how about clutch etc. Thanks for all your help on this and past posts.

It will fit but you will need a V8 bell housing , the right flywheel , ect.

is you`r car a stick or auto right now ?

right now it's a 3 speed, from a v8. Don't I have the correct bellhousing behind the 250 anyway?

Well since you allready have a stick sounds like all you need is the clutch and an adaptor http://www.inlinepages.com/drivetrain/Shop.html

If that's the 3.03 in there now, you'll probably need an adaptor and such.

If you have a 250 with a stick, the process is exactly the same as for the V8. You'll need to get an transmission adapter or a 5.0 bellhousing. If you use a 5.0 housing, you'll need a clutch pivot extension block.

You will need to change the pilot to use the 4cyl transmission. You will also need a crossmember for a T5 and possibly will need to shorten the driveshaft an inch.
