putting carbureted head on efi block

Post #1 by hickry » Wed Mar 29, 2017 11:48 pm

I have recently bought a 1991 F150 with a EFI 300 inline, rebuilt motor but head is cracked, i have a 1986 F150 with a carbureted 300 inline. Can i put the head off of the carbureted motor on the EFI motor with no problems, if not what problems will i have,

I am wanting to put the whole head and intake on the 1991 engine. Off of the 1986 engine.

Any advice is welcome

Won't be problem free. The issue is the combustion chamber design of the EFI head Vs that of the Carbed. Look up "Fast burn EFI" and you should be able to find plenty on the matter.

If you use the carb head along with its 1986 intake and carb it should work ok. Good luck

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
