Hi All,
Working on a 1959 Ford F250 223 Inline 6. - YouTube intro of the truck - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJv1RfrSZ-s
We have ordered new Hastings piston rings as when we did a compression test it was between 119-130 psi on all cylinders dry and wet between 121-138 psi. Not sure when or if this motor has ever been apart, We are hoping that the pistons and cylinder walls are in good shape. We have a Fel-pro engine gasket kit, new rad hoses, vacuum hoses for the rebuild.
As of right now the truck wont stay running on its own, The fuel pump is pushing fuel through the lines but for some reason the carb is not spraying fuel. If we pour fuel in directly then it will run until you stop pouring. The carb is a rebuilt unit from Rockauto that we put on a few years back so maybe its just gummed up.
We are going to do a 3G alternator conversion so we can have a few accessories. Picked up an alternator from the wreckers off a 1995 Ford Taurus 3.8l v6. Also going to go through all the wiring and replace anything broken or bad. We have never done an alternator conversion before so hopefully it all goes smooth. Using this article as the main reference for the conversion - https://www.hotrod.com/articles/install ... der-fords/
The front axle is getting new bearings for the drive axles and closed knuckle as well as new u-joints for the front drive axles. We are missing the front 4wd driveshaft so will have to get a custom one made as I have not found one used.
Any tips, tricks or comments anyone has please feel free to let us know.
Thanks for stopping by
Cheers
