Ok the swap is set for saturday (finally) the 170 is coming out and the 200 is going in. there are 2 things left to deal with.

First the wiring, what will i need to change to use the alternator on the '72 200? I have the voltage regfulator & wiring that went with the alternator.

Second the fan, the fan from the new engine has some kind of spacer with this the fan will not fit. I can't seem to figure out how to remove the spacer & if i did the fan would hit the 2x wide balancer. Can i swap the water pump & balancer from the 170? See pics below.

FWIW:
I ran in to a little problem with swapping a '71 170 with a dual groove pulley into a 61 Comet (Roundbody Falcon engine bay dimensions).
The dual belt groove balancer interferes with the '71 fan unless I use the water pump shaft extender from the 71 Mav waterpump which makes it too long and the fan hits the Comet radiator. I had to put the single groove balancer from the '61 and the '61 fan onto the '71 engine to fit into the early Comet .
Also the timing mark on the single groove is on the rear side of the pulley lining up with the marks on the timing gear cover. The dual groove pulley mark is on the front, lining up with the marks on a small bracket which attaches to the timing gear cover.

Hope this info helps

cool, thats what ill do. i'll use the old balancer and take the shaft extender off. I tried earlier to get it off but could not see how it removed, was it just stuck on.
