200 vs 250 for Early Bronco

Hello all, I've got a multitude of projects on the go, but my favorite is my '66 Bronco. I've just stumbled across a 200 and a 250 for sale. Both are excellent running and for $100 each. I want to build an engine, both turbo powered and EFI. I know the 250 requires an oil pan mod and a bellhousing change. Fairly easy in the Bronco. Is there one that can take abuse more than the other? If they are the same durability-wise, I'll just go with the 250. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. Those following my Mercruiser thread may be disappointed if I stick with a six.:)

250 gets my vote , for a 4x4 you NEVER want to give away torque 50ftlbs is a nice chunk to have , not to mention all the transmission options a 250 has vs a 200 , I like the 200 swap in the round body Falcons as its a bolt in , But in Bodies that allow go big or go home , IMHO

Go with the 250 for low end torque, and as FSD stated, the 250 uses the same bellhousing as the 289/302 so more transmission options.

X3 They are both good engines I am a fan of the 250's torque and for a 4X4 you can't have too much.

"...I know the 250 requires an oil pan mod and a bellhousing change..."
Not so sure on that...

Ooohh, wow.. I love your Bronco. I'm going with a 1" body lift only and Wild Horses stock lift suspension. If the 250 bolts in I'll be a happy boy.:)

sounds like it will be a goodun.
The other end may have the problems (hood clearence). Not sure on pan/frnt chunk. A SL rather than BL assists w/that (something that surprised me). Latest thought (4 me) on hood clearence is a side draft Webber 1V?
* Not sure tho - any U guys know?
As stated the 250 bell will take any 250, 289, 300, 302, 351 transmission. The adapter may be the tough one so throw nothing away in the process.
