Hi fellow sixers. I'm a newbie to the forums here, and have some questions. I've got a 1960 f-100 step side shorty w/big back window. I bought the truck when I was 15 w/42,000 original miles in 1988. I beat it to death in High School, and have stored it since 1991(just over 60,000 miles now). Now I want to get her going again with some speed parts. I've read everything I could on the forum, and will go with headers, intake, and probably convert over to a pertronix ignition system. I havent seen anything regarding performance heads for this block. Is there an easy way to increase the compression to the 9.5:1 range? Another question: how important is it to have hardened valve seats, and who is a competent head worker for these?
Thanks for help. This is a great resource.
BTW: engine is 223.
