Anyone installed a Oz 2V head in a 65-66 convertible? I was checking out some pictures, but and wondering about clearance issues with the additional bracing of the convertible.

Can't say about the Mustang but it fit fine in my 63 Comet. Had about an inch of clearance on that side.

Anyway you or anyone could give me just some measurements?

What I'd need is:

From front of engine, how far back is the carb?
From center of valve cover, how far to the side is the carb?

Basically I need those two components measured from a good reference point on the engine.

Thanks.

You can just get your fingers through, but it's enough. There is one concern as the side that faces the fender has a water outlet. It was gone on mine and there are no threads you can just see it in the bottom picture. I'll have to elbow something in there but not sure how it's held in place, must be some kind of compression fitting...anyone know?

Looks like it will clear the intake but might hit the carb. I thought sure someone had already done this. My car is at the mechanic's now since my new engine only made it 20 minutes. I will stop by tmrw and take the measurements you asked for if they haven't pulled the head yet.

I took a look at my '66 Coupe with the 250 2V head. I laid a bar exactly as your bracing shows in your picture. It just barely clears the carb, but you'll have some serious issues with an air cleaner.

If I might suggest...you will have to replace the existing bracing with one that has a bend in the area where the carb is. I am sure you have seen some of the Montecarlo bars available. Some of them have the exactly same bend I am talking about to clear the carbs in V8 engines.

By the way my carb is a Holley 350 for measuring purposes.

Boy are you in luck. I've got the tubing, a bender AND a welder :D

Now, what color powdercoating suits your fancy? We have several shades of purple or mauve that might look good :P

A degree or two is ok, any more and there'll be a breach of copyright.

Nah, just kidding! But slide it over 21 degrees to the left side, you'll find there is enough room for a welded steel plate and a 4/71 GMC blower.

Better go. I've corrupted this thread enough!

Sorry guys

I tend to shy away from removal of those bars, especially since my car doesn't have the front crossmember anymore (gotta find a body mustang repair shop).

here is an idea...what about a cold air intake with a cone filter at the end? I may be able to squeeze that in there.

hmmm, know what i like about that kit?
Sections of the kit can also be easily removed to gain access to the engine compartment for repairs and service.
that's what i like...

Absolutely.... I would say the TCP setup is about the strongest thing you can put in the front of a Mustang....
Costs a penny, but worth it...

You could always check with with Harrie (the66mustang) he was making a setup exactly like that and said (IIRC) that the price would be roughly 140$ (euro) which at the time converted to 120$ US (plus shipping of course) And that is for the whole 3 kits that TCP is selling. PM him and see what you can work out for shipping from Holland.

The thread I originally saw it on

He used to have an older thread saying he was looking for work for a laser cutter
