Ok, this weekend I finally drained the gas tank. If anyone remembers, this car had sat for 30 years. It ran when I got it, not well though. It has gone down hill since though. I stupidly never drained the tank until this weekend. It has a new, not rebuilt Holley carb, new tune up parts. Good compression. I had the hardest time keeping it running. I would have to run almost full choke. Checked for vacuum leaks, found none. Advance works. Timing set to spec with vacuum disconnected.
I am leaning to crap in the new carb sucked in from the tank blocking a passage. I have replaced the inline OEM filter and added a clear filter inline near the carb to view the fuel flow. At first start up I saw many black particles getting trapped by the clear filter, which is up stream from the OEM filter which is at the pump. That is why I feel I have dirtied up my carb.
Am I correct? Will these Holley's not allow a load to be put on the eng if there is a blockage?

Thanks,
Duane

HI Duane
any car if it can't get gas it won't let ya put a load on it...
Check for fuel prusher and volume at the carb. if there is pleanty of fuel befor it goes into the carb I would suspect the carb is pluged.. Clean filter, niddle and seat.
If the tank was real bad you might have to take it out and have it cleaned and sealed to elemanate all the rust and junk. Any rad shop can do this.
hope this helps
