Ok, this weekend I finally drained the gas tank. If anyone remembers, this car had sat for 30 years. It ran when I got it, not well though. It has gone down hill since though. I stupidly never drained the tank until this weekend. It has a new, not rebuilt Holley carb, new tune up parts. Good compression. I had the hardest time keeping it running. I would have to run almost full choke. Checked for vacuum leaks, found none. Advance works. Timing set to spec with vacuum disconnected.
I am leaning to crap in the new carb sucked in from the tank blocking a passage. I have replaced the inline OEM filter and added a clear filter inline near the carb to view the fuel flow. At first start up I saw many black particles getting trapped by the clear filter, which is up stream from the OEM filter which is at the pump. That is why I feel I have dirtied up my carb.
Am I correct? Will these Holley's not allow a load to be put on the eng if there is a blockage?
Thanks,
Duane
