Almost done 2V

I pulled my ’68 200 out, did the sump gasket properly, new head gasket as the steel shim was damaged and i installed my 2V head last night, motor is painted Hammertone. Ran into a few issues, wrong gaskets, cracked bell housing that needed some expert welding, buts it all back in, flywheel was machined also and clutch inspected. Head has a light skim, 54cc chambers, large inlet valves and had some internal work, under the valves, short turn radius work, couple bolt holes needed helicoils. Haven’t changed anything on the short as i the budget didn’t stretch for doing any more. Even remembered to put the oil pump/pickup gasket on this time around. Manifold is the 2V factory one, its been in the tank, had the 2 barrel adaptor welded on then the guts of the manifold has been removed to the taper in the adaptor, i have a modded 350 Holley thats almost new to go to try out. Its a borrowed speedway carb. I need to work out how to get some pictures up. I am awaiting the manifold to be returned to me, then its bolt on a start time. Will be good to see the comparison when i race it again as my Log PB was 11.74 on the 1/8th mile and 18.86 1/4, that was when she was crook and it was very hot. So never got to improve on it, but she should have done a 18.2 on the 1/4. My wagon weighs around 3040 with me in it.

One question i do have is i don’t have a 2V rocker cover, i want to run a pcv, easiest way is to buy a oil brother cap with pcv, i want the original style push on. Anybody have a part number or picture?

Generally the breather cap goes on one end on the oil fill tube and the pcv goes on the other end of the cover. I'm not following what you are asking?

g00gle "1966 200 mustang engine".

The crank case vent was removed, and they kept the rocker cover partly vented at the front, with a pcv valve at the back.

I don't remember ever seeing a push on Breather Cap with a hole for a PCV, but they do have them in a twist on B Cap. Good luck

Thanks for replies guys, i have this almost done, its ready to go bar the manifold and Holley, thats in a few days

Its alive, got her running today, my mate Dave tig welded the carb adaptor to the factory 2V manifold, then ported out the guts and smoothed it all, then onto his table sander for facing up. Today i had to get a 3/8ths bung for the brake booster plug as i have drums and no booster, a block off for the modified 350 Holley, full and vac hose, my old wagon log motor had all original hard lines for fuel and vac, so used as much of the fuel one as possible, cut it before the elbow and ran the full hose to the carb fitting, had to use just hose for the vac line. I studded the extractors and manifold over last couple of days, painted the motor Hammertone Grey for a fresh industrial look. Filled my sauce bottle with fuel. I haven’t done the accelerator linkage yet, still trying to figure it out so cranked it at the carb with my wife hitting the key, only a small amount of fuel was needed and she roared into life through the open collector, missus almost shat herself as i forgot to tell her. All thats left is the accelerator setup. And drive, race in a few weeks, will be good to see the difference in the old log head with my same 200 bottom end. Its a lot more responsive on the carb.

i have driven my wagon, only have 50 percent throttle for now, but it drove fine, noses over a bit so needs some tuning, with a jet change and the mixture screws, was good enough to drive to our local car show, have that flaming oil coming out of a couple bolt holes on the sump so will attend to that today
