I am not planning on doing this. I am just curious, knowing the lack of aftermarket support for these rear ends, if anybody is running some sort of drift or track car with a welded diff. If so how does it do?
I had a 7.5 with a 'lunch box locker' in my Ranger before it was swapped for an 8.8.
And I think it's the same diff that was used in the early Mustangs and Falcons.
Do it till it breaks and then upgrade. I went from the 7.25 to 8'' with a Detroit locker to After market 9'' with 1.5'' 35 spline axles with a spool. I would of gone to the 40 spline axles but they were not available at that time. They weigh the same because they gun drill out the center.
