Are my pistons going to hit??

I was just talking to a guy about getting my head milled to .40 or .50 and he asked me if that will make my pistons or valves hit. I have no idea will they?? I am going with the Isky 262H cam what should my head be milled to??

Lots of guys here with heads milled that much. I've not yet read of any valve to piston clearance issues yet. I think you have to be running over a half-inch of lift and a decked block to start being concerned.

The Ford small sixes are "non interference" motors.

Jackfish is spot-on in saying that you introduce massively overspec situations before it is a risk. That cam is not a problem at all (quite mild).

8) there are some here who have milled their heads .075" with no issues. the pistons are far enough down the bore that you need a cam lift that would better suit a race engine before you start to have valve to piston clearance issues.
