Could anyone help me in replacing my choke assy.
I have managed to get a choke assy from 4100 carb (mine was missing)
but am not sure if i have to wind the spring up or open the throttle before
connecting all together.
Any help will be usefule
Nick.
Install the choke housing first hooking up all the the linkage parts. Than put on the cover gasket and cover the spring goes into a tang don't worry about winding the spring next install the lock ring or tabs and screws leave them loose enough so you can turn the cover. Turn cover to index point plus 1 to 2 rich and snog up the screws. Now open the throttle and close and let it close check to see if the choke linkage has set on the fast idle cam notch if it has you good to go. Hook up the hot air tube and or electrical connections. Than start car and set the fast idle RPM to spec for your model with the screw still on the fast idle cam. Warm car up then blip the throttle and check to see if the choke linkage disengages off the fast idle cam. With the engine fully warmed up the choke blades should be wide open with a slight amount of spring pressure (resistance) to hold it fully open. If so your done and with the engine warmed up good you could now set your mixture and curb idle if you need too. If not you may need to turn the cover to adjust the choke blade position a bit.
