Can new bronze valve guides cause a squeaking noise? After putting almost 500 miles on my new motor this squeaking noise started and I can't seem to get rid of it. Checked the headers and intake, disconnected the belts, checked the fuel pump and rockers and pushrods all OK everything getting oil. I can hear the noise the most when listening to the header tubes where they mate with the head.

Hmmm, I don't think the bronze guides are making that sound, at least based on my own personal experience. A few years ago I rebuilt a 460 for my E-250, and ended up putting 8 new bronze guides in the heads. They have never made a sound as far as I can tell.

OTOH, you could be hearing a small leak from the exhaust flange, though I wouldn't normally describe the sound as a squeak.

It's definately a squeaking or chirping noise. I just replaced the header gasket after having it resurfaced because I thought that might be where the sound was coming from but it's still there. I'm going to hook up my timing light and see what it's insync with. :?
