Can I eliminate the PCV Valven & put a breather cap inst

1) Can I get rid of the whole PCV Valve and put a chrome Breather Cap in its place (on my 200 inline 6)?

2) If the answer is yes , what do I do with the brass fitting on the intake manifold that the hose from the PCV valve connects to?

3) Do I have to remove the valve cover to remove the PCV valve? Cuz I tried to pull it out but I can't do it (will not pop out). Thanks in advance.

Yes you can eliminate it, but you would need a vented breather cap.
But why would you want too?
There are benefits to the PCV system which include less oxidation of the oil, less engine sludging, lower emissions etc. Some carburetors are calibrated with the PCV flow in mind.

The PCV valve should pull out of the rubber grommet in the valve cover. If it is stuck, it probably would not hurt to remove it and replace the grommet too. You can get new grommets in the auto stores. They are carried under the MotorMite-Help line.

Thanks for the info.

1) What do you mean about the (MotorMite-Help line)? Do you have a phone # of them?
Cuz I have tried Autozone, Kragen, Napa, Star, and Pepboys but none of them sell the rubber gromet. They have the PCV valve but not the gromet.

2) I have also seen in pictures some engines with a different kind of PCV valve. Some look like they are made of white plastic and the barb where the hose connects to is at an angle , while the one's the auto stores sell for this engine the barb is facing up and they are made of metal.

here are some pictures.

3) Where can I buy these kind of PCV valve with the barb facing at an angle. Maybe its from a V8. Thanks.

PCV valves are set to different flow rates for different engines, so finding one from a V8 that looks how you like would not be a good choice, as its flow would be very different that that which is optimal for your engine. if it matters to you to have it at an angle, the easiest way would be to have a nipple of hose coming off it, then an ell, then a hose running off from there.

Kragen does carry the grommet, I bought mine from them a month ago. I will say however that they have multiple models and no catalogue to figure which one fits so i had to eyeball it.
