Question to the knowledgeable:
Pulled a part a 1100 carb .
Is a small split in the nitrile float .
does any one know if the float is useable or will it soak up fuel?..and sink.
My understanding was nitrile was closed cell and impervious to fuel

Any ways over to you lot.

Old ones can and will soak up fuel, they will feel soft were you can stick your thumb nail into them and often see the wet fuel seap out. I would replace it in that case some of the carb rebuild kits tell you to weight themso thats an option too. I have needed to change out lots of them over the years were it got to the point I just picked up a new float along with a carb kit to save me some time. Many carb problems are related to having a to high fuel level and heavy floats do sink and many times that is the cause of it. There are some who have resealed them with a coating I don't know how that worked in the long term the only floats I have ever fixed are the brass ones those are easy and work good every time. Best of luck

I remember your 'handle' from our last site. U know about Mike's for sittin home and gettin carb parts I think. Brass is OK:
the neopreen might B better at avoiding fuel penetration (NAPA delivers too):
