Cutting out

Ok so I am finally to the point of fine turning my 67 200 before the new owner receives it. I have a Weber 32/36 and DSII installed. It can run fine when it is around 70-80 degrees out, but once it gets above that it bogs down big time. I have also noticed that when I take left turns the car cuts out really bad and almost dies. So I've ordered new jets for the carb to help with the bogging, but what can I do about the cutting out on left turns?

Confirm your choke is opening all the way after it has warmed up. Check the float level. It is possible that the main jet is running dry during the cornering.

Good luck, Ric.

I watched the choke open up when I was trying to tune it a week ago, so I know it is opening up all the way. I haven't checked the float level, but it does have a new plastic float in there. I've got a new set of jets on the way so I will make sure to check out everything again once they show up.

Ba,

You may have more than one issue causing trouble. But I had that shutting off deal on turns. Turned out to be the ignition switch. The more keys I had on the key ring, would make it worse. The contacts were worn down and just the right force would break contact.

Rejetted it today. Will find out tomorrow if that took care of my heat soak problem. Still cuts out so I'm going to use only the ignition key and see if that is causing it. If not I'll be trouble shooting it more.

Well it ended up being my float that I installed. I went with a plastic float to prep for a boosted application and never took it out. So I swapped it out to the brass float and now it doesn't cut out during turns.
